My name is Heidi Whittaker, and I serve as a Parent Consultant for the Utah Parent Center, contracted specifically with Nebo School District to provide parents with free resources and support for children with special needs.
This year marks my 20th year helping Nebo families as an early dispute resolution provider! My role is to support positive parent–school communication and advocacy, helping parents understand education options, procedural safeguards, and resources. ~Free Parenting Workshops:
I partner with Nebo to provide free workshops for parents throughout the school year. I will send you workshop information periodically so it can be shared with families throughout the District.
~FERPA & Communication
Due to FERPA law, I do not have access to any parent contact list. I rely on schools to help me get information and resources into the hands of families.
~Brochures/Business Cards Available
Let me know if you would like hard copies of my brochures or my business cards for your front office or school conference rooms. Many IEP and 504 teams include these with the procedural safeguards they give to parents at meetings. You are also more than welcome to print and use the flyer below.
~School Staff Can Contact Me Directly!
A common question I receive every year from Nebo employees is: “Can I contact Heidi directly if I have a question or concern?” The answer is "Yes!" Any conversation with me is confidential, whether you are a parent or a school employee. Because I am contracted through the Utah Parent Center and not a direct employee of Nebo School District, I cannot initiate contact with Nebo staff without first obtaining permission from the parent. Some parents choose not to grant me permission, so when school employees reach out directly to me, it can often be helpful in allowing me to better understand situations and support families more effectively. ~Spanish Speaking Parent Support
Although I do not speak Spanish fluently, I can connect Spanish-speaking parents with a bilingual parent consultant based at the main Utah Parent Center office. I am still available to provide support during meetings and as needed, working alongside this bilingual consultant to ensure families receive the assistance they need.

Follow the directions in the picture to see your student's class assignment on Tuesday, August 5th. Any information about students or special needs was requested to be received at the beginning of June. Students have been thoughtfully placed with their teacher based on previous teacher feedback and any information that was received so that we could make balanced classrooms. We are excited to have some new teachers this year and look forward to you meeting them! It's going to be a great year! We hope to see you at the Open House on August 12th from 3:00-5:00.
